Callum Smith defends super-middleweight title by unanimous decision

Callum Smith fended off a spirited challenge by John Ryder to win by decision and retain his WBA super-middleweight name.
Hopes were in Smiths house town for a huge win but the Londoner pushed him and it seemed after 12 rounds the decision would be close.
The three judges scored it 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112 to Smith.
It implies after defeating Hassan NDam in New York in June, Smith defends the title for a second time.
It wasnt the best functionality out of myself but I was due a poor one, Smith told Sky Sports.
I was in first gear for a bit too long. This was nowhere near the top of me tonight.
More to follow.
