Pittsburgh Steelers confirm Ben Roethlisberger will miss rest of season

After confirming he requires surgery on his right elbow, the Pittsburgh Steelers have ruled quarterback Ben Roethlisberger out for the remainder of the year.
Roethlisberger, 37, sustained the injury while attempting a move at the second quarter of Sunday’s 28-26 defeat at home.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin stated:”Ben Roethlisberger had an MRI on his knee Sunday day and it had been decided from the Steelers’ medical staff that operation is going to be required.
“We hope the operation will probably likely be scheduled for this week. He’ll be set on our Reserve/Injured List and will be out for the year ”
The Steelers will be 0-2 to start the year for only the second time in Roethlisberger’s 16-year career.
Mason Rudolph, a third-round pick from the 2018 draft, entered the game with Roethlisberger hurt and completed 12 of 19 passes for 112 yards with one interception and two touchdowns.
Rudolph becomes the starter to the Steelers, who perform with the San Francisco 49ers this past week.
Roethlisberger, who led the NFL in passing last year, signed an extension in March that conducts through 2021.
